DSL went down again last night, so when I called in this time, they said that it might be a DOS attack. Seeing that we have some people on the VPN without the best AV protection (despite my pleas for sanity) and there are a lot of people sending attachments through OWA, maybe it’s time for a bandwidth update. 384k is pretty slow, and we’re using it more all the time.
Looks like I’m going to Vegas in May for that conference after all. I really hope I’m not expected to pay for anything, else I’d rather not go. I get uneasy about these things, seeing that I’m about as far away from used to them as you can get. Going there for a three day conference, that’s a whole lot of Vegas. I usually tire of the place after a night. Add to that, things that are going to need my attention back here and… you know, the more I think about it, the less excited I am about the prospect.
Laura was working late last night, so I played guitar for a good long chunk of time. With everything moved upstairs into the office, I could play along to CDs. I must have played Twist of Cain about twenty times. Trying to get that pinch harmonic was fun.
Tried to get the basic cable we have on the main TV in the living room. Thought I’d had to run a cable to the other jack on the other side of the room, but I called Jaymz and he said to just split the feed going to the cable modem. It worked, but only for a picture, the sound was heavily distorted. I have no idea why either. Even when I plugged the TV straight into the wall jack, it came out all wrong. Tried with/without the filter and the splitter, nothing helped. This is gonna vex me.
