T-7

With just seven games left to play, good ol’ Mother Nature throws a wrench in the works by raining out last night’s game against the Blue Jays.

As I see it, there’s no way that the Yankees don’t sweep the O’s. The Orioles just don’t care anymore, and would prefer to put this tainted Raffy Palmiero disaster of a season behind them. This puts all of the pressure on the Sox, as they have to play all of four games in three days against Toronto, who have already won nine of the fourteen games they’ve played against Boston.

But there is some good news. As long as the Sox don’t get swept by the Jays (and my arithmetic isn’t total crap), the final series against the Yankees will still mean something. It might require a sweep, or even a one game playoff, but it’ll mean something.

A Yankee sweep in Baltimore won’t allow for more than two Sox losses for the rest of the regular season. 5-2? They can do it.

It’s not going to be easy, but Yankees fans shouldn’t be ordering any t-shirts just yet.

Go Sox.

  1. Go Yankees!

I’m turning the game on now. They couldn’t have planned a better end of season than this.
