It just came down that Nomar Garciaparra was traded to the Cubs in a four-team exchange for shortstop Orlando Cabrera (MON) and first baseman Doug Mientkiewicz (MIN). Both won Gold Gloves in 2001. Theo is doing a press conference on it right now.
Wow. I pretty much figured that #5 would leave after this season, but even still, it was quite a shock to see that it happened ahead of schedule.
