How sweet it is.
What can I say that hasn’t been said already and won’t be repeated a million times between now and the start of the World Series? This was nothing short of an amazing comeback.
And who can’t say enough about Johnny Damon’s performance? Two homeruns? One of which a grand slam? Please.
All of it done without a single RBI from #24. He must be saving himself for the World Series.
The only part of that game that I didn’t enjoy was Pedro’s appearance late in the game. He pitched the seventh and gave up two runs. As soon as he came out, the “Who’s Your Daddy?” chant started, and the crowd was right back in the game. Wow, did I have some colorful words from Francona while waiting for those three outs.
But, all’s well that ends well. Yankees go down in the books as the biggest choke artists in history, and that’s good enough for me. I don’t believe I’ve ever watched a World Series, with the Red Sox last getting in back when I was eleven, so it’ll be interesting. Trying to get myself used to the idea at seeing Ortiz at first in the NL park.
