RIP “Dimebag” Darrell
Last night in Ohio, as the band Damageplan started their set, a gunman opened fire, killing guitarist Darrell and three others and injuring two more. Police shot and killed the gunman at the scene.
Darrell and his brother, drummer Vinnie Paul, had formed Damageplan and were touring to support the band’s first album after their previous band, Pantera, broke up last year. When I get home tonight, I’m going to give Pantera’s Vulgar Display of Power, one of the best metal albums I’ve ever heard, a spin in his memory.
What a shame. I just saw Dimebag and Vinnie hosting the Headbangers Ball on MTV2 just a few weeks back…
