Go back to bed…

What a day. Started last night when I got an answering machine message from my urologist about a follow-up kidney stone appointment that I made a full year ago. They called to let me know that the appointment was today. Hey, yeah. Thanks for the heads up.

Couldn’t make it tho, as we had a mandatory meeting at the office this morning. I’m not in a hurry to get X-rayed anyways. So, I woke up, showered, and then shoveled out the driveway, as it had snowed a few inches last night.

As I was getting into the car, I threw my water bottle over into the passenger seat, where it promply cracked. I didn’t realize this however, until I picked it up to drink from it, and it leaked all over my lap. At this point, I was already driving, so I pulled into the local bank’s parking lot, aiming to unscrew the cap and quickly dump the remaining contents out of the door.

Of course, I wasn’t thinking, and I threw the water all over the door, instead of down and out of it. Damn thing splashed everywhere. Spent the next few minutes trying to sop it all up with my gloves, so it wouldn’t pool anywhere.

Got back on the road, and since it snowed, I took my snowroute instead of my usual backroad trip to the highway. Traffic was relatively smooth until I hit a crossroads. I could either continue up the highway I was on, or take another one.

I chose… poorly.

Spent the next hour slowly crawling north. I was still a half-hour away when the meeting started, and the traffic would just not let up. By the time I get there, there’s no parking, so I had to kinda make my own spot in the snow, and trudge into the building.

I got upstairs to the conference room 45 minutes late, and just as the meeting was ending. Luckily, it was just financial projections and the like that I probably wouldn’t have understood anyways, but the whole ordeal just left me defeated.

On the bright side, I have leftover chili to look forward to for lunch, so I guess today won’t be a total waste. Don’t feel like calling the doctor’s office either, but I probably should. If they charge me for a missed appointment, I’ll go completely frickin’ insane.

*sigh*

This Friday night, Rooftop Suicide Club (debut album this April) is playing The Call in Providence.

I’ll be there. Will you?
