While it started off well, this long weekend ended with a whimper. My wife wasn’t feeling too well, and to be honest, neither was I, though my illness was more mental than physical. Wasted all of yesterday in a funk, and didn’t get anything meaningful done besides shoveling the few inches of snow that fell overnight. When I think of all that I could have gotten done with that time, it makes me a little upset.
Here and there, I’ve been wrestling with my DirecTiVo and Vonage. All of the dialing prefixes that I’ve found online don’t seem to be helping much lately, so I ordered an oddball serial cable from WeaKnees to try to solve the problem. With it, I can either connect the TiVo to my laptop and have it dial through that, or use an external modem. Different internet forums have had success with these methods, and since Vonage is much cheaper than a land line, I’d like to have it work. Else, I’m considering jumping ship (back) to USA Telephone.
Besides, it would appear that DirecTV is actually instating a software update for the thing soon, and I’d like to get it. I know it will work eventually, as it has worked before, but the challenge is to make it work consistently.
