Wanted to move a pretty major piece of software from an older server to a brand new one last night, and to say that it took a little time is a bit of an understatement. There’s nothing like getting home from work, eating dinner (while watching the Red Sox on Queer Eye?!), and then going right to bed. As a result, I’ll be converting my half-day Friday into a day off Friday this week, unless my boss has any overruling objections.
I must admit that the timing is a little suspect. I am told that my yearly review is going to be this coming Monday, so deciding to move one of the firm’s cornerstone apps the week beforehand was risky. It seemed to all work out ok, and I’ll just have to hope that taking a long weekend right before the review itself isn’t held against me either. *knocks wood*
The mailman delivered our Federal refunds for the three years I did amended returns for. The IRS actually paid us interest on two of the years, which turns out to be …taxable. Cute.
Finally, a word about the US-Canada border. I’ve traveled through it a few times recently on trips to Montreal, and never really had any problems with the questions at the booth. Now, I see that even if you go through with “a homemade sword, a hatchet, a knife, brass knuckles and a chain saw stained with what appeared to be blood”, they will STILL LET YOU INTO THE COUNTRY.
Nevermind that the motherfucker looks just like batboy with a devilock.
