Finally got around to writing some more reviews, unfortunately, the majority of the movies I saw weren’t all that impressive. I think Bond fans (that’s you, Will) might get more out of The Matador than I did, but it’s still a good flick either way.
Congrats to Italy for holding out and winning the World Cup yesterday. Jeers abound for you-know-who, who seems to have forgotten to pack his dignity for his supposed last game before retirement. A headbutt in overtime? Really? Idiot. And he still gets the Golden Ball. My guess is that most of those votes were cast before the final.
Now that the Cup is over, I guess I can get back to paying more attention to what the Sox are doing. (Right in time for the blah All Star break.) Over the last month, I’ve been checking the score throughout the games, but don’t think I’ve watched an entire game in about as long. Got too much other stuff to do, and these games can last a long time.
Meanwhile, yardwork and finalizing a client’s new website are the orders of the day. More on the latter, perhaps tomorrow?

I watched The Matador this weekend as well. I liked it but it I felt like something was missing. It was short (the netflix case said 90 mins) so I wonder if there was a whole subplot that was edited out. The whole thing was not what I was expecting but I’m not really sure what that was. It was much darker than Analyze This (wish that never happened) I think.

I think it was trying to both be dark and funny at the same time, and that somehow mellowed both out. Maybe it’s just that odd combination of hitmen and comedy. see also: Grosse Point Blank
Heightened expectations suck, but I can’t blame the movie for that. The studios need to get their head out of their asses and quit using one-line review quips from crap reviewers out to make a quick buck.

I loved Grosse Point Blank. I think that worked because it concentrated on the comedy (but not fart joke comedy) instead of trying to be dark.
As much as a hate Manny I think he owes the AL and should play if he can. This is no longer an exhibition game. The Yankees’ home field advantage in the World Series is at stake.
