I think that worked because it concentrated on the comedy (but not fart joke comedy) instead of trying to be dark. As much as a hate Manny I think he owes the AL and should play if he can. This is no longer an exhibition game. The Yankees' home field advantage in the World Series is at stake. I loved Grosse Point Blank. I liked it but it I felt like something was missing. It was short (the netflix case said 90 mins) so I wonder if there was a whole subplot that was edited out. The whole thing was not what I was expecting but I'm not really sure what that was. It was much darker than Analyze This (wish that never happened) I think.
