Today is the first half-day Friday of the year, and to celebrate, the mercury plans on moving up past the nine and the zero on the Fahrenheit scale. While all of this is well and good, the cloud that’s posing to rain all over my metaphorical parade exists in the form of a Federal Jury summons, the status of which I am to learn tonight.
While I hope for a temporary reprieve from facing the muck and mire of Boston traffic, odds are that I’m going to have to drive into town at least once over the next three weeks that I am “on call”. These things are not for me to decide however, and the recorded voice at the other end of the line will soon toll my fate.
I won’t let it spoil my weekend. I hope.
Edit: Hooray! I’m in the clear for Week 1 of 3. Have to call again next Friday for Week 2, but for now, I’m good.
