November 2007 eMusic Downloads
Perhaps it’s the change of the clocks bringing early darkness, or the fact that I’ve been overworked for the past few months. This time around, I take things blacker than black. With some help from Sam Dunn, I grab some stuff I normally wouldn’t.
- Emperor — Anthems to the Welken at Dusk (10 Tracks)
- Wanted to see if the music rose above all of the drama involved with the 90’s Norwegian black metal scene. Apparently between all of the murders and church burnings, some of these guys found time to make some decent records. They have a majestic sound about them, which I’m sure can’t be easy to pull off while wearing armor.
- Carcass — Symphonies of Sickness (10 Tracks)
- Probably my favorite album of the month, although it’s difficult to listen to any one of these four all the way through in one sitting. Much harsher than Heartwork, which I downloaded back in March. I think Heartwork is better, so I probably won’t be going any further back in their catalog than this.
- Enslaved — Mardraum (11 Tracks)
- Progressive Viking death metal. Early listens leave me preferring the more melodic Amon Amarth, but all I know for sure is with song titles like “Krigaren Eg Ikkie Kjende”, I won’t be expecting to decipher any lyrics anytime soon.
- Killing Joke — Hosannas from the Basements of Hell (9 Tracks)
- Would actually be a decent industrial record if the songs weren’t so goddamn long. Cut each track in half and then maybe we’ll talk, otherwise, I don’t think it’ll ever get the chance to grow on me.

I like the Enslaved stuff. Korpiklaani has some good pirate music too!
Check out the name of Misitry’s new tour!
