Tried Sudoku for the first time this week. That was a mistake. I barely have enough brain function to survive, let alone care which box the number “7″ goes in.

Was Laura’s birthday yesterday. All of your well wishes to her are now officially “belated”.

Started playing Urban Dead after the AV Club posted a really, really late review of it. Kevin (Scout) and I (Firefighter) need help in creating a more self-sufficient group that’s larger than say… the two of us. That is, if we’re ever both alive at the same time. If anyone feels like joining (we could use a NecroTech employee), we’re in/around the Judgewood area.

Peter’s horror film blog gets all AJAXy with a kick-ass new swooshy calendar. Clicking has never been so fun.

Back on DirecTV again. Partially because I needed NESN back for the new Sox season, partially because they offered me a good deal (and no commitment) to return, but mostly because I want this. As long as they don’t screw it up a la CableCARD, I’ll be looking forward to its release.

Henry still loves monkeys. But not as much as he loves ducks.

That DirectTV PC tuner has several one-ups, especially if you plan to record from it, but if you are looking for a practical alternative to a TV tuner card (I’ve never had any luck with ‘em, performance wise), may I suggest a Slingbox?

Got one last Friday..I love the thing. Can’t wait to go back on travel. Instead of watching Arabic TV, I’ll be sucking down On Demand content from my laptop half a world away. Plus the fact that it can stream to my Treo is incredibly sexy.

Oh, and thanks for the plug. :P

My current HTPC has two tuner cards in it. They’re both running basic analog cable at the moment, but I’ll be swapping one out for DirecTV next week when my new IR blaster arrives. (The one I had wasn’t detected by Vista. Surprised?)

Works great, really. I’ll probably have one tuner doing DirecTV and the other on local cable so I can still record everyone’s favorite witch.

Gotta get a MPEG-4 dish installed for HD, which can wait until the HDPC-20 is released.

What I really need to figure out is how to share the iTunes folder on my Mac so that the HTPC can readily access it. (Then I’ll have TV and the whole music library from any 360 in the house!) I’ll probably just end up copying the files to the local HDD and writing a batch xcopy command or something…
