Watching the Pats game, and I can see that the flakes have started to fall for this, the second storm of the winter. Laura’s work Xmas party is tonight in New Bedford, but I don’t know how excited I’ll be to drive over there if it really starts to come down tonight. Not to mention what will come tomorrow morning, as work looks like it’s going to get a pretty heavy layer of snow and ice. I might have to work from home a day.

Just looked out the window, and it’s falling here too. Not a whole heck of a lot just yet, but that’s the way it starts, right?

I’m typing this on my latest laptop. Since we got all new ones for the firm, I asked my boss if I could have one of the old ones and he said sure. It’s a PIII 600 with half a gig of RAM. I’m in Gnome right now (Slackware 9.1), and it’s running like a champ. I got the resolution up and the fonts look great, it’s a beautiful thing. I’ve just about given up on the desktop. The power keeps spiking, making use very difficult. If it didn’t have the only CD-R drive in the house, I don’t think I’d ever bother turning it on again. The laptop has dual boot to Windows so I can work from home too. I’m really digging this.

Oh, did you hear? No? They caught Saddam. Will be interesting to see what comes of that. I will spare you my own forecasts.

Went to Erik and Emma’s Xmas party last night. It was a good time, tho it brought up the fact that we have no New Years plans. Maybe we’ll host a little something. I think we have some champagne in the fridge. A few more bottles and we’re ready.

Got one more week to go before vacation starts. Going to try to set up all of the multiple flatscreen monitors at work, and then coast through till Friday. Leaving work for such a long period of time (two weeks) is always tough because I’m the only one in my department. Good thing that everyone else will be out for the end part of the week anyways with the holiday, and then I’ll just be at home for most of the 2nd week.
