Directed by Kit Ryan

Starring Steven Dorff and Jamie Foreman

Ritchie (Dorff) owes the Russian mob big time, so he agrees to steal a priceless antique from the penthouse apartment of a large building in Moscow. Assisting him in this heist are brothers Peter (Foreman) and Yuri (Russell Smith). They accomplish the job, but during their escape, the elevator stops and leaves the men alone on a mysterious floor of the building with their half-dozen or so hostages. When people start getting killed in grisly ways, Ritchie has to wonder if he'll ever leave the building alive.

The major problem with this film is that it doesn't know what kind of film to be. In the beginning, it seemed like a perfectly capable heist film. Once we meet the obnoxiously overacting Peter, a feeling grows that the wheels might be coming off of this production, and not in any way that the filmmakers would appreciate. After the first slaying, things start to wander into horror territory. Unfortunately, once the killer arrives on-screen—dressed in viking armor no less—and the fart jokes start, I was pretty sure it was safe to jettison any hopes I may have had that the time I had invested would appreciate in value.

If this film proves anything, it's that horror comedies are a hard thing to pull off, especially when it's not clear from the start that you're watching one. I wasn't sure where this movie was going at any one time, and as a result, I didn't bother sticking around to find out. I'm sure that there's an audience out there for things like this, but I won't be polling the local grade-schoolers to find out for sure.
